Bucovina in December is one of the most arresting winter landscapes in eastern Europe — painted monastery frescoes dusted with snow, frost-covered orchards, and villages still observing the old Christmas and New Year customs with a depth rarely found elsewhere. This journey brings you into that world: Orthodox vespers, colindători at the door, and a table that never seems to empty.
Arrival at Suceava Ștefan cel Mare Airport. Transfer to guesthouse in the Bucovina countryside. First evening: village colindători (carol singers) visit the house.
Morning at Voroneț in snow — the famous blue frescoes against a white winter landscape. Afternoon at Humor Monastery. Evening Orthodox Christmas vespers at a local church.
Two more painted monasteries in the snow — Sucevița with its green frescoes and Moldovița with its golden tones. Afternoon visit to a family home for a traditional winter meal.
A day in the village: bread baking in a wood-fired oven, traditional costume making, and an evening of colinde (carols) around the fire. Farewell dinner with homemade wine and țuică.
