Hiking in the Carpathians

This tour is designed for people who love nature. You must be a top athlete to participate in this trip, some hiking experience and perseverance to bring with you, however. We walk through the rolling hills of Cindrel Mountains, go to the High gutter (Paltinis), hiking in Fagaras mountains at Balea Lake, and much more.
Day 1: Sibiu - Răşinari
After arriving in Sibiu / Hermannstadt brings her traveling companion after Răşinari. Here you refer in a family pension rooms for five nights. At dinner, the introduction is done in the theme of our tour.
Day 2: Răşinari - Sibiel
After exploring the quaint pastoral village Răşinari including the Orthodox Church and the bishop’s see, we’re going to Budenbach / Sibiel. From there, our 4-5 hour hike over the mountain heights of Fântânele begins. After a break in a mountain hut it goes back to Budenbach / Sibiel. Here we visit the Icon Museum, followed by a hearty dinner with Romanian specialties awaits us. Of course a glass of Tuica a must here.
Day 3: Răşinari - Cisnădioara
On a full day hike is on the agenda. From Răşinari – the name comes from the resin collectors (Rasina = resin) – we walk to the Rose Garden to a height of about 1100 m above sea level. About the Silberbachtal we reach the “Half Stone” before Michel Berg / Cisnadioara where fossils have been found from the limestone time. Next, we visit the Romanesque basilica this Transylvanian Saxon village. Back to Răşinari brings us a horse-drawn carriage.
Day 4: Paltinis - Răşinari
Early in the morning we take the bus to the High gutter / Paltinis, the highest holiday resort in Romania (1400m). Here is the starting point of today’s approximately six-hour hike through the Cindrel Mountains. Our route takes us through the peaks and Oncesti Tomnaticu back to Răşinari.
Day 5: Sibiu
By public transport we drive to nearby Sibiu / Hermannstadt. Here you will be given a full tour of the old town and admire the sights of the city, which was named along with Luxembourg European Capital of Culture in 2007. The afternoon is at leisure. You can stroll through the city, visit the open-air museum, or bathe in the salt lakes of Salzburg / Ocna Sibiului that are outside of Sibiu. Dinner and overnight in Răşinari.
Day 6: Balea Lake - Bran
Today we leave the Sibiu area and turn to the highest mountains of the Southern Carpathians to the Fagaras mountain range. First we drive to Bulea-glacial lake (2,033 meters). You can expect us beautiful views and a three-hour hike. We take a break with a picnic at Balea Waterfall. Then we drive on Fogarasch / Fagaras by Bran / Bran. Here is the supposed “Dracula” lock port we visit together. Although the 14th-century Bran is presented not scary, but has its own charm. So the fountain in the courtyard of the castle lies a labyrinth of underground tunnels and corridors. Dinner and Accommodation at the hotel for two nights in a guesthouse with beautiful views of the castle and the valley.
Day 7: Rasnov - Brasov
In the morning we visit in Rosenau / Rasnov peasant impressive castle. From the nearby spa town of Poiana Brasov / Poiana Brasov we do about a three-hour hike to the summit of Postavarul. In the afternoon we visit Kronstadt / Brasov, formerly an important trading hub between Transylvania and Wallachia. We take a city tour, highlight here is the Black Church. In the evening we drive back to Bran / Bran.
Day 8: Fagaras - Brasov - Carta - Sibiu
Today it’s all about Fogarasch back to Hermannstadt- but not without the Orthodox monastery in Sâmbata de Sus to visit and take a trip to Kerz / Carta, the Cistercian abbey. Around noon we reach Sibiu and enter your home.
