Since ancient times, the traditions and customs left their mark in the culture and spirit of the Romanians. Prepare for an authentic and unforgettable journey!
Day 1: Arrival in Sibiu
Arrival in Sibiu. First, we take a city tour and visit the main attractions of the former Capital of Culture. In the late afternoon we go to the ASTRA open-air museum of traditional folk culture. We will admire the windmills, wooden churches and many other authentic symbols. The dinner will be served in a traditional romanian restaurant, accompanied by folk music. Overnight in Sibiu.
Day 2: Sibiel
The journey continues towards the west. In Sibiel you feel like taken back to the past. Particularly noteworthy here is the Museum of icons on glass painting. The well-preserved village folklore festivals and folklore events. Here we will spend together with local people throughout the day. In the evening we will eat with relish Romanian cuisine – all very fresh and organic. Overnight in Sibiel.
Day 3: In the Alm
We will find out in these days how the everyday life of a Romanian shepherd looks like and their ancient traditions. Since archaic times transhumance is practiced around the Carpathian Mountains. From May to October flocks of sheep are driven over the pastures. Main source of income for the sheep owner is the milk that is processed into cheese of all kinds. We will have the opportunity to taste varieties, traditional polenta with sour cream. In the evening we drive back to Sibiel where we will have dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Sibiel - Răşinari - Sibiu - Sibiel
After breakfast, we stop in Răşinari. There, a horse-drawn carriage ride awaits us through the narrow streets of the village. On today`s list are the memorials of Emil Cioran and Octavian Goga. At noon we are invited to a peasant family for dinner. We spend the afternoon in Sibiu. Here, you have the free time. Overnight in Sibiel.
Day 5: Sibiel - Sibiu - home
The last day we start with a visit to an Orthodox church in the village. Then we drive to Sibiu, where we meet the oldest Romanian folk dance group: Junii Sibiului. They will teach us some of her dance moves and steps. The free time until the airport transfer.
