Complete Tour of Romania

 

Get an overview of the main attractions of Romania. Be enchanted by the charm of the Peleș Castle, the Moldavian monasteries and the fortified churches in Transylvania. As the cultural and economic center of the country, we also discover the capital of the country, Bucharest.

 

1st Day: Bucharest, Paris of the East

Around noon you will land in Romania’s capital, Bucharest. Transfer to the hotel where you will meet your tour guide. A walk in the old town of the so-called “Paris of the East” is always worthwhile. For dinner, the entire group meets each other.

2nd Day: Following the steps of Dracula

After breakfast, we leave Bucharest heading north. Our first stop is in Bran, at the famous “Dracula” castle *. Let yourself be surprised. At noon we arrive in Brașov, a city founded in the 12th century by the Teutonic Knights. A striking landmark of the city is the Black Church, built in 1477. In the afternoon we will head back to our hotel..

3rd Day: Through the Carpatian Mountains

The day begins with a visit to the fortified church in Prejmer. The fortified church is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and one of the most beautiful fortified churches in Transylvania. We will continue our adventure along the Red Lake, through the Bicaz Gorge and the beautiful landscape of the Eastern Carpathians to Bukovina. In the evening we reach Suceava.

4th Day: The Moldavian Churches

Today we visit three of the most famous Moldavian monasteries in Bukovina: Moldovita, Voronet and Sucevita, known for their magnificent location in wooded valleys, the harmonious architecture and the magnificent frescoes. Thmost famous ist the Voronet Monastery, also called the “Sistine Chapel of the East”. The monumental fresco of the “Last Judgment”, which covers the entire west wall of the monastery church is a true visual delight. The evening ends with Romanian traditions and an authentic dinner at a local peasant family.

5th Day: Back to Transylvania

Today we drive back to Transylvania. Via the Borgo Pass we reach the first Bistrita / Bistritz. Short stop in the old town. In the afternoon we reach our destination: Sighisoara. We take a detailed walk through the old town. Sighisoara is considered to be one of the most beautiful castles in Europe and has an almost completely preserved medieval architectural core.

6th Day: The Hills of Transilvania

The the most imposing fortified church of the Transylvanian Saxons is located in Biertan. One fascinating aspects of this Castle, is the existence of a so called marriage prison, which should remind of the times when divorces were hard to imagine. At noon, we reach Sibiu, where we discover the flagship city of Transylvania on a city tour, on which we will walk over the famous Bridge of Lies.

7th Day: Back to the Capital

On our way to Bucharest, we stop in the Cozia Monastery. Around noon, we reach the capital. The city tour takes us past the most important highlights, such as the Triumphal Arch, the Athenaeum, the Revolution Square and of course the Palace of Parliament *. We will also visit the latter from the inside. We move into our hotel for the last evening in Romania.

8th Day: Departure

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye and say “LA REVEDERE”..
