The Ice Hotel

Surrounded by ice at 2000 m altitude stay

The first time they built the ice hotel in the winter of 2005/2006 and now this place has become very well known, as are the small ice church, which stands next to it. Annually not only the fact that all the rooms, including a bar, built entirely of ice attracts many visitors to Bâlea / Bulea, but also the breathtaking views of Transylvania.

Day 1: Arrival in Sibiu - Avrig

Arrival at Sibiu Airport. From there we go to avrig / Freck the summer residence of Samuel von Brukenthal, which is about 30 km from the airport. After checking in and a welcome drink the program the next few days will be discussed. Special requests can be expressed. Depending on the time of arrival we can visit the city and its surroundings.

Day 2: Avrig - Balea Ice Hotel

We leave Freck and drive towards the ice hotel. It accompanies us the mighty mountain range of the Fagaras Mountains, located on the right side. We drive up the mountains and take a rest at the memorial house of Badea Cârţan, a Romanian shepherd who has traveled several times to walk to Rome and Vienna.

On the beautiful Transfogarascher high road to over 2000 meters winds up the mountain traverses through a tunnel and continue on the south side, we experience a breathtaking landscape. These serpentines are often used for testing of TOP GEAR. Of the Bulea waterfalls we come with a cable car to the chalet at Balea Lake, where the ice hotel is located. Here you can purchase a room at the Ice Hotel or in the ice room for the night. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to run across the great white ice of the lake and visit the ice church, and to spend the remaining afternoon in winter park.

Day 3: Balea - Carta - Sibiu

Take the cable car we leave the Bulea Lake and is within a short drive Carta / Kerz. There are the ruins of a Cistercian abbey, which we visit short. Then it’s back to Brukenthal castle surrounded by a large baroque park.

The castle, a highlight of the Transylvanian culture, was the summer residence of the Governor of Transylvania, Samuel von Brukenthal, an Art Lover formed. We take a walk through the park, where you can take souvenir photos in a Baroque costume. Then we have lunch “a la Baroque” in the Orangerie to us. Once you have moved into your room and made a short lunch break, we drive to Sibiu / Hermannstadt. Here we take a city tour and the rest of the time, is at your free disposal. In the evening we go back to the Orangerie, where we enjoy a romantic dinner.

Day 4: Avrig - home

After breakfast in the Orangerie, the summer residence Brukenthal it goes towards the airport.

Depending on your departure time, we place at your disposal the remaining time.
