Three massifs, one journey. This seven-day traverse links the Bucegi plateau, the Piatra Craiului limestone ridge, and the high granite peaks of Făgăraș — the arc of southern Carpathian wilderness that runs west from Sinaia to the Transylvanian Alps. A certified mountain guide leads the group on a continuous south-facing traverse with nights in mountain chalets and refuges.
Arrival in Sibiu. Equipment check, route briefing with your mountain guide, and welcome dinner. Early night — first trail day starts at dawn.
Drive to Sinaia and ascend into the Bucegi plateau. Walking across the sphinx formations and along the plateau edge. First mountain shelter overnight.
Descend from Bucegi and transfer to the base of Piatra Craiului. Afternoon acclimatisation walk along the river gorge.
The main event: the legendary Piatra Craiului ridge walk — a narrow limestone spine above 2,000m with sheer drops on both sides. One of Romania's most dramatic trail days.
Transfer west to the Făgăraș massif — Romania's highest range. Afternoon valley walk to the Bâlea Lake glacial basin. Overnight at the Bâlea Lake chalet.
A long day on the Transfăgărășan high route — granite peaks, glacial lakes, and the long ridge descent. One of the finest mountain days in Romania.
Return to Sibiu or transfer to Bucharest airport. End of programme.
